The truth according to Wikipedia

This is the full programme from VPRO... a very good introduction to Web 2.0, complete with hype and criticism! What I found interesting was the contrast between the "I" and the "we", the effect of the personalisation of media and its likely effect on culture - already individualistic. Web 2.0 presents us with powerful tools and resources; it is important to make use of them fully aware of the issues that surround them. "Free", "open source", "egalitarian", and "me" are the foundations; as became clear during the Wikipedia story, though, these are tentative values for the creation of knowledge. 'Fragmentation' is the term used by Andrew Keen.

What occurred to me during this clip are the tensions and relationships between emancipation and anarchy, subjectivism and constructivism... another thought, most disturbingly, concerns the emerging epistemology of convenience. Web 2.0 is a tension of advantages and dangers, which we must be honest about in our enthusiasm.
