The dotSUB version of my walk to work video is now available, with subtitles. Sadly, there is no evidence of Peter Jackson's influence.
Of the three video applications I used (YouTube, blip.tv, dotSUB) the latter gave the most control in terms of ascribing properties to the clip, including the fine-grained ability to restrict the audience - and featured the wonderful subtitle feature, very easy to use. It was extremely easy to upload the movie files. Blip.tv and dotSUB gave considerable control over licensing.
Top gain permission to use a clip, I guess the best way to do it would be to contact the person associated with the clip using the messaging capability in each platform...?
